Joana Teixeira
Joana Teixeira is a visual artist living in Lisbon. Her artistic practice combines painting, collage and animation in a meditative process, where she recovers fragments of discarded paintings (traces of her past) to transform them, thus exploring impermanence, imperfection and the shifting layers of identity.
With a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, she has taken part in group exhibitions such as OCCUPARE (2014) and Making is Colder than Capital (2024), contributed to the artistic intervention project The Window Next Door (2022), and worked as a graphic artist and animator on animated films such as O Ciclo (2016-19), Suspensão (2020), and Percebes (2024). She is currently taking part in collective initiatives at Atelier Artéria, such as Shadow Self (2025), and the participatory project Fazer Parte para Não Esquecer (2024-25).
