Pedro Pena

Pedro Pena (Beja, 1996) is a visual artist whose practice spans contemporary photography and its intersection with drawing and painting.
He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, with a bachelor in Art and Heritage Studies (2021) and a postgraduate degree in Discourses of Contemporary Photography (2024).

Pedro is interested in the material and expressive capabilities of analogue photography. His work is marked by a constant tension between form and feeling, offering an intentionally human sentiment to what may seem ambiguous. His artistic practice relates to the real and expands into the imagined, proposing an emotional reading of the layers within his images. Above all, Pedro seeks to allow his personal investigations to act as accomplices in the emotional translation of both intimate and universal questions, across the themes of territory, mental and reflective spaces, and memory.

Pedro has participated in group exhibitions since 2021, and since 2024 as a member of the collective ssensível. Notable exhibitions include Spellbound (Procur. Arte, Cultural and Social Association, Lisbon, 2025), Do you need a body to cast a shadow? (Galeria Zé dos Bois, Lisbon, 2025), and Banho de Paragem (Collectif, Lisbon, 2024, curated by Sérgio Mah and António Júlio Duarte).
