Chico da Silva: Life and Work
Um universo mágico povoado por animais fantásticos, folhagens exuberantes e cores vibrantes.
Chico da Silva created a world populated by fantastical creatures, lush foliage and vibrant colours. A Brazilian artist of Indigenous descent, he progressed from painting on the walls of houses to international recognition, developing a body of work shaped by an unfettered imagination. His career, marked by the collective practice of the Pirambu School and controversies surrounding the authenticity of his paintings, has been revisited through exhibitions that reveal the vitality and complexity of his legacy.

Vieira da Silva: The Different Periods of Her Work
From her training in Paris to her final paintings, a journey through the discoveries and changes that shaped Vieira da Silva’s work.
In Vieira da Silva’s paintings, libraries seem to stretch beyond the canvas, while the lines of cities lead the eye along uncertain paths. Through works from different periods, we explore six stages of her career to understand how this visual language evolved and how certain themes returned over the decades. Along the way, we also look at her prints and the places in Portugal where her work can be seen.
