Eleonora Drumond was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1948. She studied at the Instituto de Belas Artes do Rio de Janeiro between 1971 and 1974 and developed an artistic career spanning sculpture, painting and drawing, with exhibitions in various countries in Europe and the Americas.
Sculpture occupies a central place in her exhibition activity of the 1980s. During this period she presented work in spaces such as Galeria Bonino in New York, and held solo exhibitions at the Fundação Cultural de Curitiba and at Galeria Spazio in Belo Horizonte, both in 1982. The following year she exhibited at the AMC Gallery in Buenos Aires, followed by presentations in Curitiba, Brasília and Lisbon.
Her connection with Galeria São Mamede dates back to 1989, when she held a solo exhibition of sculpture. She returned to the gallery with further solo shows of sculpture, in 1991 and 2008, and of painting, in 1993 and 2005. In 2007 she also took part in the Feira de Arte Contemporânea de Lisboa, presented by São Mamede.
Over the following decades, painting and drawing gained a greater presence in her exhibition career. In Portugal she showed her work at Galeria Vértice in Lisbon, at Galeria Escada Quatro in Cascais and at Galeria Inter Atrium in Porto, among other spaces. She also took part in group exhibitions at the Museu de Aveiro and at Galeria Mário Sequeira in Braga. Abroad, particular mention should be made of the solo shows at Galeria Sidney Root in Brussels, at Galeria Inter Atrium in Barcelona and at Gallery 5 in London.
Her work is part of private collections and holdings in countries such as Brazil, Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Angola and Australia. The acquisitions recorded in her career include those by Galeria Bonino in New York, in 1981, City Art Access in Los Angeles, in 1988, and the Fundação Joe Berardo in Madeira, in 1992.
In 1986 the book Eleonora Drumond, devoted to her sculpture, was published in Rio de Janeiro.
