Pedro Rocha was born in 1945. He was a member of the Puzzle Group, formed in Porto in 1976 and active until 1981, whose members included Albuquerque Mendes, Armando Azevedo, Carlos Carreiro, Dário Alves, Graça Morais, Jaime Silva, João Dixo and Pinto Coelho, among others.
Together with the Acre Group, Puzzle was one of the collectives through which the experimental character of Portuguese art in the 1970s asserted itself. In 1978 it received a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation grant for a survey of "O Kitsch e o Mau Gosto em Portugal" (Kitsch and Bad Taste in Portugal). The group took part in exhibitions such as "Jeune Peinture Portugaise" and "Artistes Portugaises" at the Centre Culturel Portugais in Paris in 1976 and 1977, "Arte Portuguesa Contemporânea", which toured Brasília, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in 1976-1977, and "Antevisão do Centro de Arte Moderna" at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 1981. In 2007 its collective work "Bandeira Nacional" (1976) was one of the highlights of "50 Anos de Arte Portuguesa" at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and in 2016 the group’s work was shown again in "Portugal em Flagrante. Operação 2" at the Modern Art Centre.
Individually, he took part in 1989 in the exhibition "Gravura Portuguesa Contemporânea da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian", which travelled to Sofia, Pleven and Varna in Bulgaria.
He is represented in the collection of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Modern Art Centre, with "A Réplica" (1987) and "sem título (arco)".
