Tellechea

Francisco Tellechea was born in 1955 in the city of Coimbra.

During the years 1970 to 73 he became involved in the spontaneous emergence of a surrealist group in Coimbra, where Living with Passion, Living with Pleasure, Living with Utopia were more than words, they were a way of being.

In a society where the order of things seemed to be the accumulation of deep tensions, boredom and dissatisfaction, questions were asked and action was taken to change the nature of customs, of politics and of social culture (it must be said, in truth, that many mistakes were also made).

In 1974 he moved to Lisbon. He became an avid reader of psychoanalysis. Somewhat misanthropic and agoraphobic, he found his way to painting, thus expiating his confabulations and seeing with lucidity what the light conceals. He uses tubes of watercolour, the airbrush and other complementary techniques as the vehicle of expression for his paintings.

2nd prize in the national competition for the logo of the Campanha de Prevenção Contra o Tabagismo.

Invited by the CTT to produce the philatelic issue Jogos Olímpicos (an edition of 4 stamps representing the sporting events in which Portugal won medals), the stamp commemorating the European Year of Safety at Work, and the philatelic issue Desportos Radicais (an edition of 4 stamps and a souvenir sheet with 2 stamps).
