Yan Marczewski

Yan Marczewski (b. 1968, Bayonne) finds inspiration in large cities, where the diversity of contrasts shapes his creative process.

Working mainly with oil and pigments, he builds his paintings through the application of multiple layers. This process gives the works depth and contributes to the chromatic palette that characterises his work.

In his approach to painting, colour is developed through the interaction between pigments and successive layers of paint, each layer being an integral part of the construction of the work’s final surface.
