Ana Maria (Lisbon, 1959) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vila Nova de Cerveira, with a degree in Philosophy from the Universidade do Porto. Since the 1980s she has pursued an artistic practice that crosses painting, drawing, installation, performance, paper and community art, exploring the relationships between artistic creation, philosophical reflection and social participation.

With a career marked by interdisciplinary experimentation, she has collaborated over the decades with artists, musicians, performers and dancers, taking part in projects that bring together visual arts, theatre, dance and performance practices. Her work has been presented regularly in Portugal and internationally, with exhibitions, residencies and projects in Japan, Brazil, Turkey, Goa, Poland and Macau.

Represented in private and institutional collections, she has taken part in multiple editions of the Bienal de Cerveira, has received various prizes over the course of her career and maintains a continuing relationship with Galeria São Mamede, where she has held several solo exhibitions. Alongside her artistic practice, she carries out educational and community work through workshops, residencies and collaborative projects.
