Catarina Patrício

She holds a PhD in Communication from NOVA-FCSH, in the field of Contemporary Culture and New Technologies, and carried out post-doctoral studies at the same faculty. She held research grants from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia for her doctorate (2009-2014) and for her post-doctorate (2015-2020), and in 2015 received support for artistic creation from the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.

A visual artist, she graduated in Painting from the Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (1998-2003) and holds a Master's degree in Anthropology from NOVA-FCSH, having studied photography at FH Bielefeld in 2000. Since 2010 she has taught in the Department of Cinema and Media Arts at ECATI, Universidade Lusófona, and was a visiting lecturer at NOVA-FCSH in 2022-2023. She is an integrated researcher at CICANT, publishes essays and exhibits her artistic work regularly.
